Big changes are happening around here, and I couldn’t be more excited to finally finally!!! share them. The Place in Uptown has become such a meaningful part of this season of my life and business.

On June 1st, my friend Nicole and I officially became co-owners of this beautiful creative studio in Whittier. While I’ll always be behind the camera serving my amazing photography clients through Photos by Dee, this new adventure feels like such a natural extension of everything I already love. I’m over the MOON about it!!

At the end of the day, it’s all about creating meaningful experiences. Just in a new way.

warm and light studio called The Place in Uptown in Whittier

This is a space created with photographers & creatives in mind.

From the very beginning, our vision was simple. We wanted to create a space that felt warm, welcoming, and inspiring.

The studio is filled with goey & soft natural light, cozy textures, neutral tones, and intentionally designed sets (built by photographers for photographers!) These sets work beautifully for so many different types of sessions too. Whether you’re a photographer, content creator, or small business owner, we wanted every corner to spark creativity.

The space is perfect for:

  • Portrait and family sessions
  • Branding photography
  • Content creation
  • Workshops and educational events
  • Team meetings and creative gatherings

It’s flexible enough to become whatever you need it to be, while still feeling calm and inviting the moment you walk through the door.

The Place in Uptown is such a passion project. And it’s about more than just sessions.

Of course, we love welcoming photographers and creatives into the studio. But something even more special has started happening.

Nicole and I have been hosting monthly networking events and creative gatherings for women entrepreneurs. Watching friendships form, collaborations happen, and businesses encourage one another has been, hands down, one of THE most rewarding parts of this journey.

I’ve always believed there is room for all of us to succeed.

So, building a community where people genuinely support one another has been just as exciting as opening the studio itself.

So what’s next?

As Photos By Dee continues to grow, I’m so grateful to be expanding in a way that still feels true to who I am. Photography will always be at the heart of what I do. Now I also have the opportunity to create a space where other creatives can build, dream, and grow alongside me.

I’m so excited to see where this next chapter leads.

If you’ve been looking for a bright, versatile studio for your next session, workshop, or creative project, I’d love to welcome you to The Place in Uptown. It truly feels like home already.
